Asked recently, how do you capture a monster? Here are the steps:

1. Bring a Shock Trap (Trap Tool + Thunderbug Capacitor)
   or a Pitfall Trap (Trap Tool + Net [Ivy + Spider Web])
2. Bring at least 2 Tranq Bombs (Sleep Herb + Parashroom)
3. Get the monster to low-health (you will see skulls near the monster icon on your mini-map on the lower left side of your screen)
4. Then do the following in any order:
   1. Use 2 Tranq Bombs near the monster
   2. Use a Shock Trap or Pitfall Trap on the monster
5. Congratulations! Monster is captured!

Now is capturing a monster or slaying a monster better? Both has pros and cons - once my monster rewards tables are up, you will be able to see if there are any parts that have a better chance to carve, making slaying better for you in that instance. I prefer to just capture, as it saves time overall, and use the five (5) Material Retrievers (Guide to Material Retrievers here and here) to gather capturing materials.

Update (03/15/2025) did more research and found:
1. Carve table drops included as capture rewards (so capturing is essentially the same as carving the body). Proof - I confirmed I got a Gore Magala Feeler from a capture reward - see below right side boxed in red).

2. Capture generally all monsters (save yourself 2-3 mins per hunt), except when you are looking for specific parts you need more time to break (i.e. Gore Magala Feelers or the Tail for higher chance of a gem carve, or Arkveld Calloushells)
